Chelsea spending millions again, signs an attacker from the Bundesliga

Chelsea has signed Christopher Nkunku. The club and player reached an agreement as early as December, but it took some time for the Premier League powerhouse to finalize the deal with RB Leipzig. The 25-year-old Nkunku has signed a contract until 2029. According to English media, Chelsea is paying around sixty million euros for the transfer.

"I am incredibly happy to join Chelsea," says Nkunku on the club's website. "The club has made a great effort to bring me in, and I am looking forward to meeting my coach and teammates, as well as showing the Chelsea supporters what I can do. After playing in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, I wanted to play in the Premier League, one of the strongest leagues in the world. I am excited about this new challenge and will wear the Chelsea shirt with pride."

The two sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, are delighted with his arrival. "Christopher has proven himself as one of the best attackers in European football over the past two seasons and will add creativity, quality and diversity to our squad. He has showcased his abilities at the highest level playing for RB Leipzig and France. We look forward to the moment when he joins the rest of the players."

Chelsea does not specify the exact transfer fee for the acquisition of the attacker, which has led to speculation. According to English media, the amount is around sixty million euros, but according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, it could potentially reach seventy million euros. Last season, Chelsea already spent more than a whopping 600 million euros on new players.

Nkunku started his youth career at Paris Saint-Germain but was never able to establish himself as a regular starter at the French top club. RB Leipzig brought him to Germany in 2019 for thirteen million euros, and his career truly took off from there. Since then, he has played 172 matches for the club, scoring 70 goals and providing 56 assists.
