Liverpool will announce the transfer of Alexis Mac Allister, coming from Brighton & Hove Albion, in the near future. The midfielder will join for around 64 million, but he is not the only reinforcement that The Reds have set their sights on. According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool also intends to sign Manu Koné and Khephren Thuram.
The transfer expert posted the following on his Twitter account: "Liverpool have been in direct contact with both Manu Koné and Khephren Thuram agents again this week. Internal discussion taking place over official proposals. Liverpool asked for some time to close in on Mac Allister deal, then decide on new midfielders."
Manu Koné, a 22-year-old midfielder, is a key player for Borussia Mönchengladbach. The French youth international was acquired from Toulouse in 2021 for a price of nine million euros. Currently, Transfermarkt.nl estimates his market value at thirty million euros. Koné primarily plays in central midfield but can also operate as a defensive midfielder.
The role of defensive midfielder, however, seems to be reserved for Khephren Thuram, who was featured in 48 matches by OGC Nice this season. The 22-year-old Frenchman, also a youth international, alternates between playing as a number six or in central midfield. It is possible that the two French players could form a midfield duo, with a number ten playing ahead of them. Thuram was acquired from AS Monaco in 2019 for a mere 500,000 euros, while his current market value stands at 32 million euros. He is the brother of Marcus Thuram, who will be leaving Borussia Mönchengladbach on a free transfer.
