Hakim Ziyech will almost certainly leave for Saudi Arabia. The playmaker from Chelsea has already reached a personal agreement with Al-Nassr, the club where superstar Cristiano Ronaldo plays. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, The Blues have also reached an agreement with the Saudi Premier League's second-placed team. Ziyech will sign a contract until 2026.
So for Ziyech, this marks the end of what could be called an unhappy marriage. The ball wizard made the switch from Ajax to Chelsea in 2020 for €40 million but failed to impress at the Premier League club. Ultimately, Ziyech made 107 appearances for Chelsea, but he never managed to secure a regular starting position.
This season, the Moroccan's playing minutes were so limited that he was open to a move to Paris Saint-Germain during the winter transfer window. Everything was already settled, both from the player's side and the clubs' side. However, due to the late submission of certain documents, the deal ultimately fell through. Ziyech managed to accumulate 229 minutes in the Premier League for the remainder of the season and completed a full 90 minutes in the Champions League once. Now, he is set to join Al-Nassr.
With this move, Ziyech becomes the fourth player to depart for Saudi Arabia in the near future. Last November, Al-Nassr already managed to get a hold of Cristiano Ronaldo, while this summer, Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kanté (both joining Al-Ittihad) succumbed to the lure of the lucrative salaries. The exact salary Ziyech will earn is not entirely clear yet, although the French newspaper Foot Mercato reports that he is set to double his annual salary of €6 million. Other media outlets have suggested that he would earn €30 million per year.
